*** About The Glacier RCers ***
The Glacier RCers is chartered as an organizational corporation
whose fundamental purpose is to maintain and operate the land and facilities
from which club members operate their radio controlled models. The goals of The
Glacier RCers are to promote the safe construction and operation of
radio-controlled models, continued learning, modeling activity, and camaraderie among
and between its members and
other similar organizations, and the general introduction to and enjoyment of RC models and activities by the community
at large.
The Glacier RCers organization is affiliated with
The Academy of Model Aeronautics
(AMA), which is an associate member of the National Aeronautic Association
(NAA). NAA is the official U.S. representative of the
Federation Aeronautique
Internationale (FAI), the world governing body for sport aviation.
Our land and facilities are located on the east side of
Whitefish Stage Road one-mile south of Montana Highway 40 southeast of
Whitefish, Montana. The site consists of a smooth, level, 800' x 70'
asphalt-paved runway with grass margins along the sides and clear, grass
approaches at both ends; a large sheltered observation area with bench seating;
unlimited parking; and a restroom. Food service is available during organized
meets and events.
Flying at the Glacier RCers' field is restricted to Glacier RCers club
members and their guests, provided that the guests are current Academy of Model
Aeronautics (AMA) members. Guests may fly for up to three days; guest family
members may fly for up to two weeks. Membership in the Glacier RCers requires concurrent membership in the AMA,
from which club members' model-flying liability insurance is derived.
Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at
7:00 PM at the flying field during spring, summer, and fall, and at locations as
announced during the winter. If you would like to
join us, please return to the home page and click on the "Join" button for
information on membership and for a downloadable application form.
